Ovens, hobs and extractors
Oven cleaning in Greenhithe and North Kent
Oven cleaning is £55 for a single oven, £75 for a double and £95 for a range cooker. It's the job everybody puts off, and the one most worth handing over. Racks, trays, the fan and both sides of the door glass are included, and so are the hob and the extractor filter while we're there. Products and equipment are in the price. Anything missed is re-cleaned free within 48 hours.
What does oven cleaning include?
The whole cooker rather than the bit you can see. Racks, side runners, trays and the fan cover come out and soak. The door comes apart where the manufacturer intends it to, so the inside faces of the glass get properly clear again. Then the cavity, the seals, the frame and the outside.
Racks and trays
Out of the oven and into a heated tank, so the carbon lifts off instead of being scrubbed off in your kitchen sink.
Door glass
The door is stripped where the design allows it, both inner faces cleaned, then rebuilt. This is the part people notice.
The cavity
Roof, floor, sides, back and the fan cover, plus the seal and the frame the seal sits against.
Hob
Gas burners and caps, or a ceramic or induction top taken back and polished. Included when we're already there for the oven.
Extractor
Filter degreased and the hood wiped down, again at no extra charge on an oven visit.
Protection
Floor and worktop sheeted before anything comes out, and everything rinsed and wiped before we leave.
What we don't do: disconnect a hardwired appliance, pull a fitted cooker out of its housing, replace a seal or a bulb, or fix a fan. Those are jobs for an electrician or an appliance engineer, and we'll tell you which one you need.
How much does oven cleaning cost?
£55 for a single oven, £75 for a double and £95 for a range cooker. Products, equipment and travel are included, there's no call-out fee, and the price doesn't change with the state of the oven. A cooker nobody has touched in five years costs the same as one cleaned last spring.

A worked example
A double oven is £75. Book it on the same day as a three hour regular clean, which is £57 at £19 an hour, and the visit is £132 in total. One appointment, one cleaner in the house, and you can check the arithmetic against the tables on this page before you send us anything.
Should I book oven cleaning on its own?
Book it on its own if the cooker is the only thing wrong. Add it to a deep clean if the whole kitchen has got away from you. If you're moving out, don't buy it at all, because the oven is already inside the fixed end of tenancy price.
| Oven clean on its own | Oven added to a deep clean | Oven inside an end of tenancy clean | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Single 55, double 75, range 95 | Deep clean price plus 55, 75 or 95 | Included in the fixed price, studio 130 to 5-bed 370 |
| Rest of the kitchen | Hob and extractor filter only | Cupboards inside and out, descaling, floors | Cupboards emptied and cleaned inside, full descaling |
| Rest of the property | Not included | Included | Included |
| Best for | One bad cooker in an otherwise fine kitchen | A kitchen that needs resetting | Handing keys back to an agent |

Is professional oven cleaning safe?
It is when the products stay off the surfaces they're wrong for. We sheet the floor and worktop, keep the strong chemistry in the tank outside the cooker, and use a gentler method on aluminium trim, anodised parts and self-cleaning liners, which caustic products damage. Tell us on the form if the oven has catalytic or pyrolytic liners.
How long does oven cleaning take?
We plan around ninety minutes for a single oven, closer to two hours for a double and up to three for a range cooker. Most of that is dwell time while the tank does the work on the racks. You can use the oven again as soon as we've finished and everything is rinsed and refitted.
Do you clean extractor hoods and hobs too?
Yes, and there's nothing to add for it. The hob and the extractor filter are part of every oven visit, because grease travels and cleaning one without the others makes no sense. Ducting inside the wall, and any extractor that needs dismantling beyond the filter, is beyond what we do.
How often should an oven be cleaned?
Once a year for most households, twice if you roast often or the oven gets daily use. Carbon that has been baked on repeatedly gets harder to shift each time, and a burnt layer on the floor of the cavity smokes at high heat and taints whatever is in there. Regular is cheaper than heroic.
What does hard water do to a North Kent kitchen?
North Kent sits on chalk, and the local water is hard. Hard water leaves limescale on taps, shower screens and inside kettles and ovens. In a kitchen it shows up as a white bloom around the sink, cloudy patches on the hob where a pan boiled over, and scale on the steam function and the water tray of any oven that has one.
So an oven visit here is two jobs. Grease and carbon need degreasing, scale needs acid, and neither one does the other's work. Using only one is why an oven can come out spotless inside and still look tired around the door and the hob. Chalkdown is named after the chalk under this stretch of the Thames, and dealing with what it puts in the water is most of the local work.
The good bit is the end, when the door glass goes back in and you can read the shelf markings through it again. That's the bit we do this for.

What does the 48-hour re-clean guarantee not cover?
Four things, printed beside the promise: pre-existing damage, permanent staining, mould, and areas we couldn't get to on the day. Pitted enamel, crazed door glass, a perished seal and a worn non-stick liner are all damage, and cleaning won't bring them back. We point them out when we see them, and we won't charge you to try again.
Everything else on the agreed checklist is covered. Tell us within 48 hours and we'll come back and re-clean the affected areas free. The 48 hours is there for you to tell us, and we come back at the earliest time you can give us access.
You pay after the visit, once the work is done.
Before our first clean, public liability insurance will be in place and every cleaner will have a DBS check. As soon as those certificates exist they'll be published right here, and every written quote includes our insurance certificate and DBS details before you pay anything.
What else do people ask about oven cleaning?
How much does oven cleaning cost?
A single oven is £55, a double is £75 and a range cooker is £95. The hob and the extractor filter are done in the same visit at no extra charge. There's no call-out fee and the price is identical in every town we cover.
Do I have to do anything before you arrive?
Take anything you're cooking out of the oven and give us the worktop next to it. That's all. We bring the tank, the trays, the tools and the sheeting, and we put down protection before anything comes out of the cooker.
Will my oven smell of chemicals afterwards?
It shouldn't. Everything is rinsed and wiped down before we leave, and the seals and glass get a final pass with clean water. If you're sensitive to smells, tell us on the form and we'll run the oven empty for ten minutes at the end.
Can you clean an AGA or a stone-clad range?
We clean range cookers at £95. Tell us the make and model on the form first, because heat-storage cookers and enamelled ranges each have their own rules about what may touch them, and some parts need to be cold for a day. Checking beats guessing.
Is oven cleaning worth it if the oven is old?
Usually yes, but not always. Carbon comes off almost any oven. What doesn't come back is pitted enamel, a cracked door seal or glass that has crazed from heat. If we can see that when we arrive we'll tell you before we start, and you can send us away without paying.
